Our message is simple: everyone has a story to tell and sharing it can be a source of pleasure and power.\nOn Wednesday the 21st of June we aim to inspire creative writing on a grand scale‚ young people are more inclined to write creatively if they see adults around them doing so and writing can benefit people of all ages. We welcome participation from any individual or group\, regardless of age\, gender\, and cultural or economic backgrounds. Our aim is to promote all forms of writing and encourage communities to join in via a programme of public\, educational and online activities. \nNational Writing Day is led by First Story\, a national literacy charity dedicated to changing lives through writing\, and supported by fifty-five Official Partners and numerous other associate organisations. The event takes place on June 27th and a number of events are organised by the Vision council to help promote the importance of wearing sunglasses. \nResearch has shown that people who do not wear sunglasses risk doing substantial damage to their eyes due to the harmful effects of the sun’s rays. Even on cloudy days\, sunlight can still be strong enough to cause lasting damage to the eyes\, which means that it is important to wear sunglasses or another form of UV eye protection at all times. \nTo help celebrate and promote International Sunglasses Day\, the Vision Council is encouraging both groups and individuals to get involved by taking photographs of themselves wearing sunglasses. These photos can be shared on various social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook with the hashtags #SunglassSelfie and #NationalSunglassesDay. \nThese days sunglasses come in just about every style imaginable as well as a broad spectrum of prices\, which means that there is sure to be the perfect pair to suit anyone. Tinted contact lenses with built in UV protection are also available in both permanent and disposable types\, while people who wear eyeglasses can also find special vari-tint sunglasses that become darker according to the amount of sunlight that they are exposed to as well as sunglasses that clip onto the frames of regular eyeglasses whenever they are nee URL:https://www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/international-sunglasses-day-2024/ CATEGORIES:Family Awareness,Health Awareness,International Awareness,June ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.awarenessdays.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iStock-1361297167-2.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20240629 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20240708 DTSTAMP:20240625T085935 CREATED:20231008T121753Z LAST-MODIFIED:20231008T121753Z UID:10017250-1719619200-1720396799@www.awarenessdays.com SUMMARY:Children's Art Week 2024 DESCRIPTION:29 June – 19 July 2024\nChildren’s Art Week is a UK-wide programme run by Engage\, the National Association for Gallery Education. \nIn recent years\, Children’s Art Week has taken place online\, at home and in schools across three weeks in June and July. Each week focussed on a special theme. \nPrevious themes were… \nWeek 1 (from 29 June): The Natural World \nWeek 2 (from 6 July): Connecting across generations \nWeek 3 (from 13 July): Literacy and creative writing \nSchools\, galleries\, museums and community groups were invited to plan and register visual arts activities for children and families. These activities gave children and young people\, together with their teachers\, parents and carers\, the opportunity to take part in practical art activities with artists\, makers and educators. \nThe COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how essential creativity and the visual arts are for learning\, connecting and wellbeing. While venues\, cultural organisations and school buildings were closed\, engaging in the visual arts became more important than ever. \nIn 2024\, to support the advocacy work of the visual arts engagement and participation sector\, Engage will celebrate the amazing health and wellbeing work delivered through the sector. Check Engage’s website\, E-bulletin and social media for details. \nEngage is delighted that Children’s Art Week has been adopted by many organisations and individuals. We would therefore encourage you to make your own plans for CAW in 2024! We have a selection of templates to inspire your activity. Please share what you get up to with us by email or social media. \nVenues and organisations of all types and sizes were welcome to register events and activities — from libraries to community halls\, heritage venues and country parks\, schools and of course museums and galleries. Individual artists and makers also took part. \nActivities ranged from a live-streamed session with an artist or special activity packs\, to digital challenges engaging with online collections\, physical resources distributed by post or activity delivered over the phone — think outside the box! Events and activities were filtered by age and location\, so think about whether you would like to connect to a specific history or person from your local area and what age groups you would like to engage with. \nOrganisers are welcome to revisit existing resources and activities to programme for Children’s Art Week 2021. If you have activities\, a campaign or programme already in action\, think about how you can respond to this year’s themes and join in! \nAll registered events or activities\, excluding private events registered by schools or organisations\, must be free or low cost to participate\, and must be able to be accessed or distributed remotely. Organisers will receive support from Engage to plan\, run and publicise their events or activities. \nRegistration will open at the end of May. \nBringing Children and Art Together Children’s Art Week \nChildren’s Art Week takes place in the UK and is organised by Engage. All over the country various events will be held\, giving young people and children the opportunity to get involved in a range of art activities. \nWhat is Engage? \nEngage provides support and training for gallery education. Gallery education refers to a field which works to widen access to the visual arts for everyone. It works with gallery owners and visual arts organisations. The aim is to encourage families\, young people\, disabled people\, older people and early years groups to be more engaged with visual arts. \nHow Children’s Art Week is Celebrated \nEngage invites various organisations such as schools\, museums\, galleries and community groups to organise various visual arts events. Support is provided for organisers with regards planning\, running and advertising events. \nTeachers who want to take part in the celebration can get hints and tips if they want to plan a gallery visit.
