What is National Ice Cube Day?

brand, The Ice Co, is reinstating National Ice Cube Day for a second year on June 21 st 2024.
Since 1860, The Ice Co, has been championing ice in all forms and now, it is dedicating a national day
every summer to celebrating ice cubes – after all, ice cubes are a top-selling item in the frozen aisle,
particularly in summer, naturally!
In a recent consumer survey, The Ice Co found that a whopping 71% of consumers agree it is important
to have ice at home when entertaining. 13% also said they felt embarrassed when they run out of ice
when hosting. It’s a good job The Ice Co. manufactures five billion ice cubes a year… enough to go
around the world four times!
When is National Ice Cube Day?
National Ice Cube Day takes place every year on 21st June.
So why the 21st of June?
There’s nothing that says summer more than the sound of ice cubes clinking in the glass, right? The sun
is shining, and temperatures are warmer and ice-cold, refreshing drinks are needed! Summer is known
and loved for BBQs and gatherings in the garden, picnics in the park, time on the beach and staycations
– all of which icy drinks are central to.

National Ice Cube Day Cocktail Ingredients:
- 1 watermelon
- 50ml vodka
- 50ml prosecco
- ½ a lime juiced
- 1tsp honey
- 3 handfuls Party Ice
- Top Up: Soda Water
- Garnish: fresh mint, watermelon wedge and lime wheel
Method:
- Cut a ¼ of a watermelon into chunks and add 1 cup to a blender. Blend until smooth.
- Add the watermelon juice, vodka, lime juice, and honey to cocktail shaker filled with Party Ice and
shake well. - Fill a glass to the top with Party Ice, then strain the cocktail over the ice. Add 50ml of prosecco
and then top up with soda water before giving it a good stir. - Add a few lime wheels to the glass and garnish with a wedge of watermelon and a sprig of fresh
mint. Enjoy!
